It was near the end of 70s when the Swaegers family started a livestock and wholesale business, the first steps in what would become a successful business story.
A few years later the sisters of the family, Denise and Lutgard Swaegers, also showed their entrepreneurial spirit and started a butchery, helping turn Swaegers into a household name in the local area.
At the start of the 90s the Swaegers family decided to expand their livestock and wholesale business and opened the Swaegers slaughterhouse and meat cutting plant as we know it today.
During the 00s our slaughterhouse and meat cutting plant gets its first upscaling and modernization works. A new century is celebrated with new facilities and a modern infrastructure.
A decade after our first major investments, we again modernized part of our facilities by renovating our cold storage, freezing rooms and packaging department. It was also during these years that a takeover took place within the family and a second generation of Swaegers got involved in the business.
In 2021, Swaegers is a well-established business in the meat industry. We continue to build on the work of the first generation and keep striving for quality meat through our passion, knowledge, approach and investments.
We work according to the short supply chain principle and manage every step ourselves, from livestock selection to order delivery.
